Sheryl the Artist

Number 51: Among Sheryl’s many special talents is Art. Sheryl’s Art has been created through a multitude of media over the years.

In this picture  – taken in the “Chadar Ochel” – the Dining Hall, at Kibbutz Tuval, the painting was by Sheryl and says: “Pesach Chag Ha’Aviv”  ie Pesach the Festival of Spring.   The cardigan I am wearing was created by Sheryl. She spun the wool, dyed it with natural dyes and then knitted it!

Sheryl’s medium of preference over the last number of years has been ceramics. She purchases glazes from The Potter’s Shop in Kalk Bay – which she loves going to, as it gives her the opportunity to look at the eclectic mix of items in the shops, bookstores and restaurants there.

She was once honoured to be invited  to participate in the Cape Ceramics Directory under the auspices of Ceramics South Africa – Western & Eastern Cape Division, as reflected in the photograph.
