Late Hackey’s z”l Gold Fob Watch and Bright Shirt Fabric

Number 04 6th January
(Date of Hackey Edelstein’s Birthday).
These two items belonged to my Dad Harold (Hackey) Edelstein.
The gold fob watch l inherited…not that l really remember my Dad using it too often. I offered it to Yair who declined it. So when we went to Toronto in July 2019 l gave the fob watch from my Dad to Jesse, the youngest grandson.
The little piece of brightly coloured fabric is a piece of one of my late Dad’s bright shirts. Just looking at it reminded me of Dad. So l asked a seamstress to cut up the shirt. With the pieces of fabric and velcro she managed to make 16 pieces of recognizable fabrics to put around the handles of the suitcases of all of their descendants. I handed them out in 2017 in Jerusalem at the Barmitzvah of Jesse Gordon and the Batmitzvah of Leila Edelstein who are cousins (my siblings’ children who came to Israel from Toronto and Melbourne). While the grandkids might not remember my Dad wearing these bright shirts, all my siblings immediately recognized the fabric for what it was.
