Every walk to supper in the Chadar Ochel (Communal Dining Room) meant passing through the Kibbutz Parking Lot and a good few minutes wait while Yair “drove” his beloved Tractors. Absolute heaven to be on the Tractor’s Trailer working the Lavender Harvest.

Number 35: Sheryl and Raymond made Aliyah to Israel in February 1985 and settled on Kibbutz Tuval, where after some years they became members. Both Yair and Maya were born on Tuval and are “Bnei Kibbutz” – Children of Kibbutz.

Lavender was one of the few crops that could grow, without irrigation and much care in the rocky mountainous Galilee terrain surrounding Tuval. Raymond managed the Lavender Factory on Tuval for some years.

The photographs reflect Raymond, but especially Yair, participating in the Lavender Harvest, June 1989, at age 3 and in the fields with his “chevrah”, the children of his age group on the Kibbutz.
