The accordion’s long journey through the generations

Number 23: Written by my brother David Skolni on 31/12/2019 on Facebook:
In 1929 my late Mom , Marcelle (at 2 years old) emigrated with her family from Amsterdam to Cape Town, South Africa. Her parents took with them this vintage accordion, which has subsequently been passed down through the generations .Yesterday, some 90 years after their departure from Amsterdam, the treasured accordion accompanied me as part of my workshop I ran in Baka Al Gharbiya. The students heard about the accordion’s long journey from Amsterdam to Africa and recently to Israel.
It was wonderful to share this story with them, accompanied by other musical instruments, animals and sounds of Africa..
Wishing All my family, friends and students a continued meaningful journey into the New Year of 2020 and beyond..
May we always remember and cherish our Past, live Today to the full, and may our wishes for an even better Future and dreams fulfilled come true ..
Happy New Year
