Meaningful furniture birthday gifts

Bookshelf gift from Hackey and Fanny to Sheryl on her 22nd Birthday. Standing here on ripped up floor during Corona Virus lockdown, after geyser burst and soaked the carpet that had to be ripped up! Picasso print in the background purchased by Raymond and Sheryl in Spain in 1985.

Number 77: Over the years l have received some wonderfully special presents. From an early age l liked interesting furniture and requested my parents to buy me furniture as birthday presents.

The wooden framed antique mirror l received when l was about 20. It has travelled with me. When we were living in Israel,  it came with us, and returned with us to South Africa.  When we renovated our guest loo in 2019, we needed a mirror for the walls. I looked around at various stores and options  and could not decide what mirror to install. I then realised that we have this mirror on a shelf in the passage and that it would  work very well in the guest loo, where 40 plus years later it now resides.

Another gift which l think was for my 22nd birthday was this bookshelf. I told my parents that l would like a bookshelf for my birthday. They returned from an auction with this bookshelf and like the mirror, it too has travelled with us and is in daily use!

Form my 21st birthday present I requested and was given a chest of drawers.  I love having this yellow wood  chest of drawers in our home.

Interestingly Ilana also asked for a mirror and a chest of drawers for her birthdays.
